Stone Weight Calculator
Estimate the weight of stone blocks for construction and masonry
Enter the length, width, and height of your stone block (in millimeters), the number of stones, and the stone's density (default is 2500 kg/m³). The calculator will estimate the weight of a single stone and the total weight for your order.
The calculator uses the following formula:
- Volume (m³) = Length × Width × Height (all in meters)
- Weight (kg) = Volume × Density
The total weight is the weight per stone multiplied by the number of stones.
- Stone dimensions: Larger stones weigh more.
- Stone density: Different types of stone have different densities.
- Quantity: More stones increase total weight.
- Moisture content: Wet stones are heavier than dry ones.
- Masonry and wall construction
- Landscaping and retaining walls
- Stone paving and flooring
- Architectural stonework
- Use proper lifting equipment for heavy stones.
- Wear gloves and safety gear to prevent injuries.
- Store stones on stable surfaces to avoid shifting.
- Check weights for transport and logistics planning.
How do I calculate the weight of a stone block?
Multiply the block's length, width, and height (in meters) to get the volume, then multiply by the stone's density (default 2500 kg/m³). The calculator does this for you.
What is the standard density of stone?
Most stones have a density between 2400 and 2700 kg/m³. Granite is about 2700 kg/m³, limestone about 2500 kg/m³.
Should I include extra weight for moisture or irregular shapes?
If your stones are wet or irregular, add a margin to the calculated weight for safety.
